MY TAKE
It’s imperative as patriotic,
peace-loving Kenyans to remain sober and vigilant even as we slowly enter into
election mode. The political elite of this nation are aligning themselves to gain
their own interest at our expense. Some of them are engaging in ethnic
profiling utterances that brought us pain before. There is need for us Kenyan not
to buy such cheap nationalist kind of mind but to remain in our genuine
patriotic mind that has been a source of strength for peace-loving Kenyan like
you and I. Our values as Kenyans demand that we show the high quality of decorum in
every interaction have with fellow Kenyans. Patriotism is a fundamental tenet
included in our national values and principle of governance alongside national
unity and rule of law in article 10 section 2(a) of the constitution. These are
guiding principles that should inform our daily interactions. Kenya is a nation
bequeath with rich cultural and ethnic diversity which I believe should enrich
us collectively as a nation. We should not allow our rich diversity to be our
downfall. Right now our political fraternity is failing even with the new
constitution in place, we should not take this lightly we are short of servant
leaders, leaders who can subordinate their interest to that of the nation,
leaders who have this nation at heart. With this kind of situation nature and
patriotism demands that we rise and fill the gap. I urge us not to view our ethnicity
from perspective of tribal cocoons, but from the angle of one people, one Kenya,
one nation. I believe we Kenyans know
what we want and that our patriotism is not affected by any politician neither
the failure of success or government policy. Remember when all is said done Kenya
remains Kenya and the task of development lies squarely on us the citizens. So beware
of wolfs masquerading as sheep.
